Ghostwriting and guest authorship
We share the opinion of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education that "the Readers should have the certainty that the authors of publications present the results of their work in a transparent, reliable and honest manner, irrespective of the fact whether they are its direct authors or they used the help of a specialist entity (an individual or a legal person). The proof of an ethical attitude of a scientific worker and the highest editorial standards should be the overtness of information on the entities contributing to the occurrence of such publication (substantive, material, financial contribution, etc.), which is not only a manifestation of good custom, but also of social responsibility". This is why we undertake activities aiming at preventing scientific dishonesty defined as ghostwriting and guest authorship. "We speak of ghostwriting when someone contributes significantly to a publication without disclosing their participation as one of the authors or without their role being mentioned in acknowledgements placed in the publication. We speak of guest authorship (honorary authorship) when the contribution of the author is exiguous or absent at all, and despite that fact they are the author/ co-author of the publication".
In relation to the above:
1. we ask to disclose (together with the affiliation) the author(s) of the concept, assumptions, methods, etc. used while preparing the publication and to indicate their contribution to the publication, if they are not the author(s) submitting the manuscript.
2. we also ask to submit information on the publication financing sources, the contribution of scientific research institutions, associations and other entities, i.e. the so-called "financial disclosure".
We hereby inform that we will disclose all signs of scientific unreliability and cases of breaching and infringing the rules of scientific ethics.
